The engraving depicts King Louis IX, dressed in the garb of a Roman soldier, kneeling before Christ and holding out a crown of thorns as Christ holds out a crown of stars. The coat of arms consist of a pair of wild men as supporters, holding ups a mantle above the shield and crown.
